Lady Gaga’s Miss Steak

“When I wake up in the morning, I feel just like any other insecure 24-year-old girl,” said Lady Gaga in an interview with Rolling Stone. “Then I say, bitch, you’re Lady Gaga, you get up and walk the walk today.” On the morning of MTV’s 2010 Video Music Awards (VMAs), Lady Gaga got up and walked to the butcher to retrieve pieces for her infamous meat dress.

The meat dress weighed about forty pounds and is made from a clean cut of beef so that it doesn’t get very slimy or leave a blood trail. Franc Fernandez, the Los Angeles-based designer/artist behind the dress, personally transported the dress from his studio in Los Angeles to Lady Gaga at the VMAs. “I had a little cooler that I carried it in – its own little coffin,” said Fernandez. Oh my.

PETA of course had to have their little say about the tortured soul of the abused carcass Lady Gaga was wearing. Even Ellen DeGeneres presented a kale bikini to her as a friendlier alternative.  ”It’s certainly no disrespect to anyone that’s vegan or vegetarian,” Gaga responded to the animal rights criticism. “As you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it’s ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones.”

Personally, I love Lady Gaga and her crazy outfit antics. She does with fashion exactly how she should, being fun and unmistakably original. Sometimes I day dream of what it would be like to be Lady Gaga’s personal assistant. I would have to make crazy runs to the grocery store to pick up her next fun outfit, possibly compiled of trash bags and peanut butter. I’d be the potatoes to Lady Gaga’s meat. (Exit day dream mode)

I think if anything, there is one thing Lady Gaga does exceptionally: getting press. Lady Gaga wears an outfit and everyone talks about it. Simply put, Lady Gaga knows how to cause a stir make Bjork look like a nun at the same time.
